I am drawn to the nobility of a bull elk and their regal presence. When conceptualizing this idea, I wanted to capture that feeling but avoid common depictions of elk. The idea of a grand thunderhead exaggerated this concept perfectly. I most enjoyed exploring the hues of purples creating a realistic painting but more magnified in color to go along with the theme.
