Reasons to choose this tour...
•Thriving Tiger Population:Ranthambhore National Park is one of the best places in the world to see and photograph wild tigers. Decades of conservation offer a rare chance to observe these majestic cats in their natural habitat, often framed by lakes, ruins, and open grasslands.
•A Landscape Where History Meets the Wild:The thousand year old Ranthambhore Fort rises above the forest, a UNESCO listed remnant of Rajput kings. We explore its gates and stone pathways while crumbling temples and ruins throughout the park blend history and wilderness.
•Diverse and Dynamic Ecosystem:Beyond tigers, Ranthambhore is home to sloth bears, leopards, crocodiles, deer, langurs, and abundant birdlife. Each drive reveals something new, creating a rich safari experience beyond a single species.
•Iconic Agra Experiences:Witness the Taj Mahal at sunrise as marble glows pink and gold. We also visit Agra Fort and Itimad ud Daulah, the Little Taj, to explore the legacy of the Mughal Empire.
•Agra Sloth Bear Sanctuary:Visit the Agra Bear Rescue Facility to see rehabilitated former dancing bears and learn about conservation efforts protecting India’s sloth bears and local communities.
ITINERARY
The tour departs from Delhi, India, which can be easily accessed from most major cities. If you need assistance with your flight arrangements, please let us know.
Apr 16 • Arrive in New Delhi, India
Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Apr 17 • Transfer to Ranthambhore
You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the station for a comfortable 5–6 hour journey aboard a luxury train to Sawai Madhopur, the gateway to Ranthambhore. Upon arrival, we’ll take a short drive—just 6 miles (10km)—to our hotel near the park, where we’ll settle in and enjoy dinner.
Apr 18-23 • Tigers
Each of the next six days begins before sunrise. At 5:30 am we head into the park, the air still cool, the jungle just beginning to stir. Langurs call from the treetops, peacocks announce the morning, and somewhere in the distance a sambar may sound the alarm. These early hours are whenRanthambore National Parkfeels most alive, and when the possibility of a tiger encounter feels wonderfully close.
After the morning safari, we return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest during the heat of the day. In the afternoon, we venture out again, when the light softens and turns golden, illuminating the fort walls, lakes, and dusty tracks in that unmistakable Rajasthan glow. On one of the days, we’ll spend part of our midday break exploring the historicRanthambore Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that rises dramatically above the forest and offers sweeping views over tiger country.
Evenings are unhurried. We gather for dinner, share stories from the day, relive sightings frame by frame, and let the anticipation build for tomorrow. Then it’s off to rest, ready to rise again and step back into the wild.
Apr 24 • Transfer to Taj Mahal
We enjoy one last morning safari and after breakfast, we depart for the roughly five hour drive to Agra, watching the landscape shift as we leave tiger country behind. By early evening, we arrive and check into our hotel.
Apr 25 • Sunrise + Sloth Bear Sanctuary
We rise before dawn for sunrise at theTaj Mahal, when the first light of day reveals it in an entirely different mood. In the quiet of early morning, the marble shifts from soft blue to warm ivory as the sun climbs, offering one last unforgettable opportunity to photograph this masterpiece without the intensity of midday crowds.
After breakfast, we explore the impressiveAgra Fort, wandering its grand courtyards and red sandstone walls while looking back across the Yamuna River toward the Taj.
We then begin our drive back to Delhi. En route, we stop for a special behind the scenes visit to theWildlife SOS Agra Bear Rescue Facility, home to rescued sloth bears and an inspiring example of conservation in action. It is a powerful and meaningful way to close our journey through India’s wildlife and cultural heritage.
By afternoon, we arrive in Delhi, where we share our goodbyes. For some, the adventure continues onward to Jawai for our next chapter with leopards and the Rabari community.

HOW HOT WILL IT BE?
In April, the weather in Ranthambhore National Park begins to transition toward the hotter summer months, but it is still very manageable and often excellent for wildlife viewing. Temperatures typically range from 15°C to 35°C (59°F to 95°F). Early mornings can still feel pleasantly cool, especially on sunrise safaris, while late mornings and afternoons warm up significantly as the month progresses.
By April, the landscape starts to dry out, which actually improves visibility and increases wildlife activity around water sources. Tigers begin spending more time near lakes and watering holes, making sightings more consistent. The light is beautiful, especially in the early morning and golden hour, and animal movement remains strong throughout the day. We provide ample water during safari, and our vehicles are open, so it is important to stay hydrated, wear lightweight breathable clothing, and bring a hat and sunglasses for sun protection. Early April offers a wonderful balance between comfort and increasingly strong tiger viewing opportunities before the full intensity of April and May heat sets in.
CHANCE FOR SLOTH BEARS
With their shaggy coats and iconic white chest markings, sloth bears are truly exceptional creatures, celebrated for their distinctive appearance, unique feeding habits, and cultural significance. What sets them apart is their atypical diet—primarily termites and ants—which they extract with remarkable precision using their specialized adaptations. Their elusive and nocturnal nature adds an air of mystery, making encounters with them in the wild particularly special.
While Ranthambhore is renowned for its tiger population, it is a diverse ecosystem that supports a variety of wildlife, including sloth bears. Did you know that a mama sloth bear will carry her cubs on her back for their first nine months? Or that they have developed a defensive instinct to protect themselves from tigers, and it’s not uncommon to see tigers giving sloth bears ample due to their assertive nature? There are several exciting instances of such encounters available online. For instance, you can find two widely shared videos from Ranthambore National, where a sloth bear successfully chases away two tigers.
TAJ MAHAL
There are few places on earth that truly stop you in your tracks the way the Taj Mahal does. As the first light of dawn brushes its white marble dome in soft shades of pink and gold, the monument feels almost weightless, suspended between sky and reflection. And then again at sunset, when the stone glows amber and the Yamuna River mirrors its perfect symmetry, you understand why it is considered one of the greatest architectural achievements in history. The Taj Mahal is not just a building, it is emotion carved in marble. We will take you there in the quiet of sunrise, and return again at sunset when the light turns cinematic and unforgettable, so you can experience its beauty at its most magical moments.
AGRA SLOTH BEAR SANCTUARY
Few places tell a more powerful story of resilience than theAgra Sloth Bear Rescue Facility. Founded in 1999 by Wildlife SOS in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department, it is the largest sloth bear rescue center in the world and home to up to 90 rescued bears living in expansive, natural forest enclosures. Every bear begins with a 90 day quarantine and full medical evaluation before being gradually introduced to social spaces and thoughtfully matched into compatible groups in larger free range habitats. With full time veterinarians, advanced diagnostic equipment, and a dedicated cub weaning area for orphaned bears rescued from poachers, the sanctuary stands as a living example of what compassionate, hands on conservation can achieve.
